We are a not-for-profit organization that is largely self-funded and not owned by our municipality. As an independent facility, the BCC relies on grants and fundraising events for its viability. We endeavour to offer all our services to the community for free or minimal fees. Our membership is our community and a shared sense of ownership keeps us focused on our goals of enhancing the general social health and well-being of everyone. The culture of generosity and dedication that started with our twenty-two founders, who mortgaged their homes to build the Centre, is still strong today with our activities being run by over three hundred volunteers. This Case for Support explains our need for funding and our plans to make the Centre financially sustainable.
