The Buckhorn Community Centre is making some improvements thanks to a $149,000 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation Resilient Communities Fund. With this funding, the BCC has been able to purchase new equipment and technology, as well as renovate our facility space. We’ve installed a second sound proof room divider! Now the large gym space can be partitioned into three areas, creating additional activity and meeting rooms. We’ve purchased a portable stage available for use inside or out. And we also purchased a new PA system, screen and projector. Outside, a new shed has been added to increase the amount of storage available for the portable stage and other equipment. Our new electronic road sign, featuring current and upcoming events and activities, will be showcased in front of the BCC.
All of this thanks to funding from the Ontario Trillium Foundation and support from our staff and volunteers and community partners.
The BCC was fortunate in 2021 to be awarded a second grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF). The $33,600 from the Community Building Fund grant provides the BCC with a few months of staffing and operating stability while we shift to building and promoting a new online presence and implementing strategic priorities from our Master Plan. This Plan includes a business model emphasizing potential for growth and development as a community hub.
