The Buckhorn Community Centre supports other local initiatives that create opportunities for residents to participate in social, recreational and cultural activities and events. Check out these programs in our community!

Buckhorn Ratepayers Association Meeting Tuesday April 9, 2024 Buckhorn Community Centre, 7pm.  Speaker: Thom Unrau, Director of Community Conservation for the Kawartha Land Trust (KLT), a land conservation charity that cares for the lands entrusted to them and helps others protect the land they love in Kawarthas. Founded in 2001, KLT protects ecologically diverse land across the Kawarthas, some of which include hiking trails that introduce thousands of people to nature in Kawarthas every year. Their success depends on the work of a dedicated and growing team of donors, volunteers and supporters. KLT currently protects 34 properties covering 6,750 acres of importance diverse types of land. Thom will tell us about the KLT, its mission, its properties and various ways to become involved with the organization. The hammer Family Nature Preserve (1,400 acres) the john Earle Chase Memorial Park (400 acres) and Boyd/Big/Chiminis Island (1,142) are three large properties protected and managed by KLT in our municipality.
Trent Lakes Library Knit and Lit - Tuesday mornings at 11:00. Starting March 7th 2023, join us at Buckhorn branch to resume our knit and lit program! Bring whatever project you are working on! Need yarn? check  out our yarn exchange program! We have lots of free patterns too! If you make an item to donate to the Trent Lakes Outreach Centre or LAWS, TLPL will deliver it! Please join us every Tuesday morning starting in March for the program! Who are we? The Road Ahead mobile wellness clinic provides mental health and addictions supports for those living in rural and remote areas across Peterborough , Kawartha Lakes, Northumberland and Haliburton counties. Our clinicians will meet with you in your community or in your home to provice: Counselling and therapy, support with addictions and substance use, health and mental health education, medication support, access to other supports including psychiatry.

Trent Lakes Outreach Centre (TLOC) runs a year round Food Bank once a month. The Food Bank is run by volunteers. We are a member agency of Kawartha Food Share, which provides our food supplies for distribution. Donations - Donation Drop off locations: Trent Lakes Public Library - Buckhorn or Cavendish Locations, Buckhorn Community Centre, Community Care - Buckhorn, Trent Lakes Municipal Office. Trent Lakes Outreach Centre - Food Bank is run entirely by volunteers and donations. We appreciate both food and money donations. Some food items which are always needed include canned/non-perishable meat, stews, vegetables s well as personal hygiene and laundry cleaning products. Money donations assist in filling the gaps in food donations and keeping the shelves filled. Heres how you can donate! Financial donations please make a cheque payable to Trent Lakes Outreach Centre.
